Once you experience it, you will be searching for it all the time. A kind of drug and addiction that is able to be good for us no matter what happens, an escape from reality—an addiction to music.

Lisztomania or Liszt fever was the intense idolizing directed towards Hungarian composer Franz Liszt. Quotesfrenzy.com is a website that publishes different quotes about different matters, and some of it includes their creation of terms to a specific topic and its interpretation, one of those is Lisztomania. According to this website, Lisztomania is a need to listen to music all the time.

One symptom of having Lisztomania is listening to music most of the time. It is easy to identify who are lisztomaniacs because music has a great part in every people’s life. Most of the people who seemed to have Lisztomania are teenagers.

Gian Louis Abellanosa is a fifteen-year-old self-proclaimed guy who is addicted to music. He treats music as his own kind of drug. He always listens to music to cure his loneliness and melancholy. For him if you have different taste in music, you are different to others.

One of his family members introduced him to local music and that is when he started supporting and loving it. Since Gian is a “musicholic” person, he always brings music with him and he never forgets to bring his earphones wherever he is. Gian goes to some gigs, favorite band events and shows in his place.

“Hindi ko na matandaan kung ilang beses na ako nakapunta sa mga gigs or music band shows kase madami dami na din tsaka basta may chance na makapunta ako pupunta talaga ako and I’m not the type of person na nag vivideo habang nasa isang event ako kase I’m just enjoying the event and I love doing that kind of thing,” Gian explained.

Gian also stated that from the moment he started listening to local music he became addicted to it because of the deep and heartfelt feeling that music brings to him.

Based on Nielsen study, 40 percent of U.S consumers, which are music fans, spend their 75 percent of money in music. Who would believe that music fans will spend $20 billion and $26 billion on music each year and after a year they will add $450 million to $2.6 billion if they had the opportunity to access exclusive contents in a concert, shows or event, just like behind-the-scenes pass to their idols.

Music has been a drug to many. An addiction to music is the only good addiction that we can have.
